The ultimate Passenger Flow Monitoring

Smart Flows offers 8 products

Live waiting and walking times for digital displays

Better inform your passengers during their journey for them to own their stay in your premices.

Live airport-wide PAX flow supervision for Operating Centers

Get a continuous live view of your passenger flows within your premises to identify forming crowds and queues and take immediate actions.

Retails’ footfall and conversion funnel

Access the quantified and qualified conversion funnel of all retail areas to better influence the behaviour of passengers and increase food and retail revenues.

Traffic data inputs for forecasting models

Improve the accuracy of forecasting models based on the actual show-up profiles of your passengers to better allocate resources at each step of the passenger process.

Passenger flow data for third parties

like ground handlers, facility and maintenance partners.

Give the key PAX flow data to your partners to help them improve their quality of service.

PAX data for internal Retail/Ops arbitration

Operations and Commercial teams now work with common data to improve PAX experience and increase retail and food revenues altogether.

Cisco, Aruba, Huawei, etc. Wi-Fi Access Points monitoring

Measure the performance of your Wi-Fi infrastructure: Access Points availability, etc.

Data capture and storage

for future PAX flow analytics

Secure your goldmine: data is securely captured and stored and can be used for Passenger Flow Monitoring applications later on.

How does it work?

Smart Flows SaaS transforms raw undervalued data such as Wi-Fi logs, flight/train schedules, premises maps, and other existing data into actionable data, in insights that operators can use to make the best decisions for their airport or train stations.

Based on the signals received, and leveraging AI and machine-learning algorithms, the software computes key metrics describing passenger flow behaviours.

Frequently Asqued Questions

What data is leveraged by Smart Flows solution?

Smart Flows only leverages pre-existing data sources.

Smart Flows connects with any Wi-Fi data sources. Whatever your Wi-Fi infrastructure is, Smart Flows will connect easily: Aruba, Cisco CMX, Cisco DNA Spaces, Cisco Meraki, Huawei, Xirrus, etc. Smart Flows is compatible with all infrastructures.

The solution also leverages other existing data sources from the airport/station environment such as facility maps, people counting data, flight/train data, sales receipts, etc.

Smart Flows collects the data in Real-time or as batch data.

How does the client access the data?

Smart Flows is very flexible in terms of how clients can access the data.

Smart Flows WebApp shows the the basic Passenger Flow data in a very user-friendly way.
The data can also be exposed in BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, etc. whether they are maintained or not by Smart Flows.
Standard Rest API are available for live data.
Smart Flows ETL can export data to any Data Lake, included but not limited to AWS, Azure, GCP.

Is the solution GDPR-compliant?

Software-based privacy principles are implemented: the only data that can be assimilated to “personal data” which is collected is Mac Addresses, and they are pseudo-anonymised (salted and hashed).

Passenger Flow Monitoring serves a « good » purpose: airports implement the Solution by leveraging the "Legitimate Interest" GDPR law provision.

Privacy at heart all along the project: Smart Flows is accompanied by a specialised law firm that has expertise in worldwide privacy regulations.

How does Smart Flows deal with Cybersecurity?

Smart Flows data centers are managed by AWS and certified ISO 27001, assuring the physical integrity of hardware containing our applications.

Smart Flows enforces security measures regarding data security, user security, and applicative security.

Audits on security are carried out quarterly.

How can the solution provide accurate data based on Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi data only is not sufficient to reconstruct accurate passenger paths: several Wi-Fi APs located on different floors can detect a single passenger at the same time, Wi-Fi logs are often duplicated and are not synchronised. The embedded Wi-Fi infrastructure location engine is not sufficient, as no constraint is applied to PAX flow: PAX are often found in non-accessible areas such as the tarmac for example.

Wi-Fi data processed by Smart Flows leads to accurate PAX paths: the solution leverages the signal strength of several Access Points at the same to triangulate the passenger location. Smart Flows mapping system materializes possible and impossible paths per type of passengers, i.e., Departure passengers cannot access Baggage Claim. And Smart Flows software ensures the likelihood of each path (no teleportation, no passage through walls, etc.).

How does Smart Flows deal with Random Mac Addresses?

While Associated Mac addresses are unique and static by SSID allowing the accurate generation of PAX Data; Non-Associated Mac addresses are harder to catch but experience shows that devices are re-using the same mac addresses to probe, actually allowing the accurate generation of PAX data.

Since the generalization of Mac Address Randomization, Smart Flows solution records more and more random Mac Addresses but the number of passengers for which the solution is able to produce statistics is staying stable.
